Meet Esha Hickson

As a multidisciplinary artist, Esha is best known for her fierce musicality and powerful energy. She loves blending various dance styles to create stories through movement. As a dancer, Esha specializes in street jazz, commercial hip-hop, modern, African, and contemporary dance styles. She is a remarkably talented artist from North Carolina. She is currently exploring other mediums such as visual art and creative writing.

Her biggest inspirations are Toni Morrison, Janet Jackson, Eartha Kitt, Debbie Allen, Missy Elliot, Ciara, and Chris Brown.

When she isn’t dancing, or teaching — you’ll find Esha traveling, writing, painting, or doing the #CatMom things with her fur baby. ​At this time, Esha is currently working on solo projects along with exploring healing practices through dance and writing.

Esha longterm mission to make dance education available to all communities ,especially those that are underserved. As a first generation college graduate, Esha understands the importance of the arts for academic achievement, developing self-confidence, creativity, and social connection. She thrives on her love of expression and inspiring others to discover their own voice through dance. She created the "BlackCatWoman" as an alter ego to protect herself and explore the possibilities of who she can become.
